SOUND4 Helpdesk/Windows Services

Windows Services

💡
Some SOUND4 software programs run as services.
You may need to adjust their parameters for specific usage.

Changing service parameters

You should first run the program from command-line with --help to see what is possible to configure.

Software mode

Some service executables can be called with --set-parameters-service to change the service parameters.
You should take care of keeping some verbose level (default is usually -vvv).
For instance, to increase SOUND4 Stream log file size to 10 MB, run :
sound4stream.exe --set-parameters-service -vvv --logfile-limit-kb 10000

Registry mode

The parameters for the service are stored in the registry, under Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\servicename\Parameters.
You can just add the needed parameters, and restart the service.

Some frequent parameters in SOUND4 services

  • --logfile path : set the log file name
  • --logfile-limit-kb limit : set the log file size limit
  • --priority prio : can change the maximum priority allowed for audio threads.
